Time for an upgrade
When it came to software the previous solution had been in place for 12 years, so SBS were keen to search for a new system which would expand seamlessly with their business. In the last few years their solution had been adapted into something more bespoke, so the dream was to find a new solution that would build upon their enviable level of functionality and improve efficiency throughout the business.
Blue Rock Systems were offered a chance to demonstrate Intact iQ to SBS quite late in their investigation, even though SBS had already seen multiple other vendors.
Simon Barber, Sales Manager at Blue Rock, explained why Intact iQ and Blue Rock could offer SBS a solution that was just as focused on supporting the future growth plans of the company.
“As one of the most modern ERP software systems available, Intact iQ offers a wealth of functionality and is designed to be compatible with new technology. SBS have a progressive approach to business, and with their plans for substantial growth it was important to them to have a software system which would give them a competitive edge over their competitors.
Additionally, Blue Rock offer their own layers of functionality which have been configured to meet the requirements of businesses like SBS. The result is a customer focused system at an extremely competitive price for a bespoke written package, which appealed to SBS as they wanted to keep the functionality which they had invested in their previous system. The flexibility of the Intact iQ product meant this would be achievable, and the company wouldn’t need to lose any features they were accustomed to.”
In terms of ongoing security, Intact Software is sold and supported by a reseller network. The partners in the network can supply, install and support the system as required. This means that should anything happen to your original supplier, there is always someone else to step in should support need to be transferred to a different company. As a company with eyes focused on the future, a system which had a strong support background was high on the list of priorities for SBS.
Steve Smith, Managing Director of SBS told us:
“We enjoyed some similar functionality in our old AS400 system, but after working with Intact iQ and Blue Rock we have been able to further enhance this making significant savings across the business. It took much blood, sweat and tears to get it to where it is today, but the commitment of Blue Rock has been excellent and we would not be without them!
The decision was not a quick one. Extensive time was spent demonstrating how Intact iQ would be able to deliver the functionality required and how easily it can be configured to suit requirements. In the end, it came down to the dedication of the Blue Rock team and the total solution that they could offer. The vast array of support options and the continuing dedication to being ahead of the curve in the technology world was what set Blue Rock and the Intact iQ product apart.”
Since the installation, Smith Brothers Stores have reaped the benefits of a new ERP software solution, growing from 9 to 12 branches along with adding a new head office and distribution centre warehouse function. They plan to continue expanding with the user count for the system increasing from 100 to 150 users and expected to grow further.
They have also implemented functionality which is designed to help move surplus stock between branches to meet demand, as well as utilising the new distribution centre to source products previously purchased direct from suppliers. This enhancement has prevented vast amounts of unnecessary purchase orders being placed and in return saving hundreds of thousands of pounds.
SBS continue to be as innovative as always and are committed to making the most of the modern options available to the business and progressing the business further. The Intact iQ software has given SBS the means to support and analyse their business as they continue to dedicate their time and energy to the continued expansion of their company.
