Blue Rock Systems are pleased to be sponsoring Broadstairs racing driver Michael Crees, who has recently signed up with Parker Revs Motorsport to contest the 2021 Porsche Supercup.
Dad-of-two Michael’s career began with a £100 go-kart fun day in 2016, where he discovered he had a natural talent for racing. Since then he has mingled with Formula 1 drivers, experienced a 3 hour test drive with David Coulthard, set the Ginetta G40 lap record in Spain and in 2017 he claimed the Ginetta G40 GRDC championship title, keeping that momentum the following season as he was crowned the Am champion in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
Michael has spent the past two seasons racing in the BTCC, where he finished as the highest-scoring rookie driver in 2019 and followed up with the Jack Sears Trophy in 2020, awarded to the highest-finishing driver who has yet to score a podium.
He’s now joined Parker Revs Motorsport to contest the 2021 Porsche Supercup, and raced in Monaco after just one and a half days practice in the Porsche – after heavy rain – and placed 2nd.
“I’d never driven Monaco, and never driven a Porsche, and I was racing drivers on the grid who had won championships or done Porsche driving before.”
He commented “the pressure is another level now – with the BTCC the cars can vary so there’s a lot of different factors at play. With the Porsche Supercup everyone’s driving the same car – it’s really all down to the driver”.
“It’s such a physical sport as well, you can lose a couple of kilos during a 35 minute race!”
Glen Jewell, Sales Director at Blue Rock Systems commented on the sponsorship; “We are pleased and proud to sponsor Michael in his career and look forward to celebrating his future wins. We are also looking forward to attending the hospitality events he has planned in the near future and inviting some of our clients along to experience him in action!”
Michael is set for Austria next to build up his experience, and then Silverstone in July. Maybe in the near future we’ll be watching him in the Formula 1.
